Final: Part 2

A. What I liked about this class was that it gave me information and knowledge about the things we researched on. It expanded my ideas on what I want to be when I am older and what it takes to become those things. I like how this class is so inspirational and the quotes that we deliberate on in the student success statements. It makes me want to better myself every day and become a better person. I like how this class moves you and pushes you into creating goals and trying to reach them no matter how hard it is. I don’t dislike anything about this class.

B. We could improve this class by doing more individual research on jobs that we are interested in but other than that I think everything is fine.

C. I think I really did do my best in this class and put effort into giving my opinion about everything and learning new things everyday.

D. Sometimes I do read my goals, other times I don’t. I know what I want in life and who I want to be when I grow up. Even if I am not reading my goals every day, I have them in the back of my mind.

E. I am committed to being a CTR person, because I person should always try to be their best. A person should want to be good and do whats right, and that I try to do whenever I have the opportunity.

F. I promise to eat healthy and take care of my well being, and do the things necessary to keep myself healthy.
Final: Part 1

The Interdisciplinary Unit Showcase was a really good experience because I had never done nothing like it before, although it was quite difficult. Starting the project me and my group got the disease “Congestive Heart Failure” which is when blood doesn’t get to all parts of the body and fluid builds up. It was great because I actually got to learn about the disease, and that there is different types of heart diseases. We had to do an essay and a power point. For the essay everyone got a paragraph to do. Whether it was the introduction or conclusion or an argument, we all got one paragraph. We then put it together.  got the first argument paragraph to do. I didn’t like the fact that we had to come dressed to school and all, but it was kind of fun. I know this was our first year doing this, and it was a fun experience and hopefully we get to do it again. We had many weeks to work on it and get it done. I was really nervous when it was time for the actual showcase, because it was going to be a grade for all the classes and that is very nerve-racking. Also because professionals were going to come see us present. That really freaked me out, because I dislike public speaking and giving presentations, and especially in front of very important people. I am very glad its over with and that we made it. The day of the showcase I came to school all ready to present. I hadn’t studied my index cards very well so I was nervous. My teammates were also really nervous. We were going to present in Ms. Ross’s room and I saw through the door all these women sitting down. we then proceeded to go inside the room, and they presented themselves. We then started to present, I was second to speak. When it was my turn I tried to remember all the tips and what to do and how to act and say it. You were supposed to maintain eye contact with the audience and speak loud and clear. I hadn’t memorized my cards so I was constantly looking down at them because I couldn’t remember, but I still tried to maintain eye contact. I feel like I did speak loud and clear, although I did stutter a little bit. Overall I think it was a great experience and it was fun. I hope I got a good grade because I feel like I put a lot of effort in it. I don’t think I could’ve done it without my teammates. So I am thankful for the teammates I got because we all helped each other. I hope I could get to do this experience again.
“When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad.”
Abraham Lincoln

I think what this quote is trying to say is that when you commit good things you feel good inside and perhaps proud of yourself, but if you do something bad, you feel terrible inside. So if you want to feel good all the time you should do good things that will benefit you in some way. If you do something wrong, consequences will come to you. When you do something bad, you know its bad so why do it?

“Always do right.”
Mark Twain

I think what mark is trying to say is that the key to greatness is doing right. Doing what is right and being nice and not expecting anything in return. When you do the right things, good things will start happening to you. Doing wrong may just bring you consequences. It wont lead you anywhere. So I think he’s trying to tell people to be the best they can be and to be a good person.

When you tell one lie it leads to another
Paul Hatch

When you tell one lie, it leads to another
So you tell two lie to cover each other
Then you tell three lies and, Oh Brother,
You’re in trouble up to your ears!
So you tell four lies to try to protect you
Then you tell five lies so folks wont suspect you
Then you tell six lies and you’ll collect
A life filled with worries and fears
‘Cause you can’t remember how many lies
you’ve told
And half the things you sat aren’t true
And sometime you’ll slip up, you’ll trip up
    and then
Whatever will become of you?
So you lie and lie without even trying
And each lie you will keep multiplying
‘Till the whole wide world will know you’re lying
   Then you’ll be
      Suspected
   Detected
      Rejected
       Neglected
     Disliked
         And you should!
When you lie, you’re closing the door
      On everything good

“When you tell one lie, it leads to another.”
Always speak the truth
Paul Hatch

When you tell one lie, it leads to another. I believe in this statement and it’s very true. Lying brings a lot of consequences. The first lie you tell the more you’re going to say. Especially if it’s a big lie and not a little white lie. Things escalate quick when you tell a big lie. There’s outcomes to the lies you first tell and then you have to tell more lies to cover it up. It is bad to lie to someone or something. You can always just say the truth. It is not so hard. Honesty makes you a better person.

The 3 questions:

1. Can people trust me to do what’s right?
2. Am I committed to doing my very best?
3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?
Lou Holtz
“If the answers to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail.”

I think that people can definitely trust me to do what’s right. I wouldn’t do what’s wrong and suffer the consequence. I would say that I am committed to doing my very best but not fully committed. If I was fully committed then I would actually do anything possible to do my very best. There have been a lot of chances to do my very best but sometimes I don’t take them, and I think that’s what I need to work on. Being fully committed. I always treat people the way I want to be treated. I don’t believe in being unfair. I hate people who are unfair and I dislike people who treat others wrong.

What i did the past week for vacation wasn't much. I didn't really do anything. For Thanksgiving my family came over and my cousins and we had a lovely dinner and we talked and watched movies so it was nice being able to spend time with them. I also went black friday shopping really early friday morning. We had to wait an hour outside of BestBuy because we were going to buy a laptop and yeah, it was freezing and i was really sleepy, but it was fun.
Physical Fitness
“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know what the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.”
President John F. Kennedy
I think what this quote means is that to be able to have great ideas and a great mind it is necessary to have a healthy body. Intelligence and skill will function when your body is healthy and strong. Physical fitness is not only keeping you a healthy fit body, it is also helping your brain be creative and adding intelligence. Physical fitness is important to have a creative mind. Intelligence will only function when you’re healthy and strong.

“Kindness is the essence of greatness.”

Joseph B. Wirthlin
I think what this quote means is that when someone thinks someone else is great they are looking at their kindness towards things. They see how kind they are towards people and animals and nature. To be truly great you do need kindness. Kindness will take you far in life. Kindness is the essence of greatness. It is the act of giving and nothing expecting nothing. Every great human being should be kind. Either people are kind or they’re not. Kindness comes from within you and having the power to make people smile and be happy.

Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day

In 1621 the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the firsts Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of Thanksgiving were celebrated. Native people of North America have held ceremonies to give thanks to successful harvests, for the hope of a good growing season in the early spring, and for other good fortune such as the birth of a child. Giving thanks was, and still is, the primary reason for ceremonies or celebrations.

Reflection: What I am very thankful for is…
1. That I have a roof over my head and food on the table every day.
2. That I am alive and healthy.
3. That I have a loving family.
4. To have friends who care for me and help me become a better person.
5. To still have my father in my life.
6. Being happy and not being miserable
7. Having a sister I could look up to.
8. Having the chance to wake up every morning.
9. Having a hard working mom that fights to give us what we need.
10. I am thankful for having it easy compared to other people.
11. Having a best friend who motivates me.
12. For being who I am.

“If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it.”

Marcus Aurelius
This quote is easily understandable and it is something we should always follow. If you know something is wrong why do it? If it is going to get you into trouble why even think about doing it. Every actions has a consequence, a bad action has a negative outcome, so we should not do the wrong things. If you also know something is not true, or you hear someone saying something and you know they’re wrong you should spread the rumors. You’ll just be getting yourself in the mess just cause you said something that you know wasn’t true.

Education: Some assistants have a high school diploma and only receive on-the-job training; however, postsecondary dental assisting programs offer more comprehensive career training.

“It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today.”
James Freeman Clark

What this quote means to me is that the choices you make today are going to lead to the outcomes in the future. Every choice comes with a consequence and if you choose right today, you’ll get a good positive outcome but if you don’t you get a negative one. So everyday you have to choose the right to make a good difference in the future.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day used to be called Armistice Day. It became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. November 11, 1918 is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars”. Veterans Day is a holiday dedicated to American Veterans of all wars. Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. It is a celebration to honor America’s Veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Reflection: It amazes me how brave these human beings can be for protecting our country and our safety. They sacrifice a lot just being there, leaving their family behind for a long time. I wonder why some of them do it, but it needs to be done. I am very thankful for them.

Right is right even if everyone is against it. Wrong is wrong even if everyone is for it. – William Penn

To me this quote means that despite whether everyone is doing it or isn’t doing it, right is right and wrong is wrong. Always do the right thing even if nobody is doing it. Just because everyone is doing something that isn’t right doesn’t mean that you have to do it. You don’t have to follow where people go.
Yoga Therapist

Teacher-training programs can last anywhere from a few weeks to over two years, depending on the style of yoga and the rigor of the coursework. A bachelor's degree in a related health and fitness field might also be beneficial.

Reflection: I wouldn't want to become a yoga therapist because instead of helping people do yoga and be in a better state of mind and be physically well, i would want to go to yoga myself. Also its not a job i would get.

" Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often."

Peter Vidmar

To me this quote means that you have to think long term, on the long run and where your gonna be in the years ahead and what you want to do and be known for in your life. Little unimportant things that you want in the present don't really matter. What matters are your goals and reaching them. So what you want most you should keep it in mind and ever choice and decision you make leads up closer to your dream.

"A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches."
Proverbs 22:1

I think the meaning of this quote is that a good reputation is better than great riches and being rich and all. I think if you become rich you become arrogant and selfish. Having a good name is being known for something great that you've done. Not being known for being rich. Having a good name is people talking good about you and what you've done and i think that's so much better than just being rich and not having a good name. So i think people should help others and set a good name out for themselves so they can be known as a good person.

"A CTR champion is a person who makes a great human our of himself."
Noemi Trigueros

I think what Noemi means is that a person who always makes right choices and chooses the right is already automatically a champion. They make a great human out of themselves by being good and choosing the right. You become a great person and you're already winning by choosing what is right. You make yourself a champion and a great human overall by choosing the right.

"You can't put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get. No matter what you set your imagination to, anything can happen."

Michael Phelps
22 Olympic Medals (18 Gold)

What i think Michael is trying to tell us is that whatever you set your mind to, you can achieve and that anything is possible. The more you dream the more goals you have to achieve and the more hard work you'll put in. If you really set your mind to it anything can happen. Your actions and success is limitless and no one can stop you from achieving your dreams. Just like michael he worked really hard to achieve those 22 medals. He only achieved them because he set his mind to winning them and he dreamt of them and he knew that anything was possible.

"Goal setting is goal getting. Set and get."

Mark Victor Hansen

To me this quote means that if you set a goal for yourself and that you want to reach, you'll reach it if you really want it. If you want to become something or want to reach something you wont reach it if you dont set goals. If you dont have a plan or strategy on how to get there then you wont know where to start or what to do. When you set goals and have a plan youll slowly start to reach that goal if you set yourself to do so. Just like Mark says "set and get", you set them and you go and chase them.

Obedience

"When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block, it becomes a building block."

James E. Faust
Obedience helps build us up. When we strive for obedience we'll stop getting irritated and it'll be something we're used to and what we're striving for. It won't be an obstacle or stumbling block, its a building block meaning it'll help us become a better person and obedience is something that'll help us go through life and grow. Obedience will be part of who we are if we make it a goal and reach it.

Cardiologist

Duties and responsibilities: Cardiologists are physicians who have received additional training to prevent, diagnose and treat conditions of the cardiovascular system, which includes the heart and the body's blood vessels. Reflection: I would want to become a cardiologist because the job seems interesting and something I’d like to do. It’s in the medical field and it doesn’t take so long to become one. I like jobs like these that help people and a cardiologist might already be one of the options on what I want to become.

"Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy."

David Bednar

For David the key to becoming, being, and remaining happy is obedience. Which means paying attention and always following directions. I guess he is really happy with life right now because he is always obedient. Always doing the right thing sure always makes us happy because we know we're doing the right thing. Perhaps being obedient is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy but i think finding yourself and knowing who you are is also central to becoming, being, and remaining happy. Also having freedom and not letting no one tell you how to be or how to dress because it's you and not them, and that your freedom.

Reflection: I would not like to become a lawyer, because it takes a very long time to become one. Also because I’m not really interested in law and justice. It’s a good job but I wouldn’t like to be one.

“Obedience sums up our entire duty”
download (5).jpg
Hosea Ballou

What i think Hosea is trying to say in this quote is that our responsibilities are followed by obedience and doing our duties. I think one of our main duties is being obedient itself. That’s our greatest duty being obedient and respecting people around you. The duty we need to finish everyday is being obedient, it sums it all up.

Autogenic Training

Duties and Responsibilities: Autogenic training is a powerful research-based stress management technique respected by performance, psychology, and professionals that enable people to feel well, think well, work well and work safely. Reflection: I would like to know how to do autogenic training because it looks interesting and calming. I think people would want some kind of help to work well and think well, and learning that would help yourself.

" The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have."

Boyd K. Packer

What this quote means to me is that the more we follow the rules and do what we're suppose to do the more liberty we'll have to do the things we want to do. When we're obedient and listen it makes us a better person and good things will come. For example, if a little kid wants to play outside or go somewhere but their mother says they have to do something first in order to do that, then they do it and they have the freedom to go outside and play or go somewhere. So if we're more obedient then we'll have freedom to do things.

" What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player."

John Wooden

What i think this quote means is that being a basketball player just like he was back then didn't mean that was all he was. Being you and letting people know who you are is far more important than what they only know you for. I think while you're our there playing you become a different person. But the person who is outside of a game and not playing is more important. You may not be the same person you are when you're out there trying to defeat your enemies. The person you should really focus on is the person you are when you're outside of the game. Him being a basketball player wasn't all there was to him.
Athletic Trainer

Duties and Responsibilities: The basic role of an Athletic Trainer is preventing and treating injuries of athletes. Once an athlete is injured, the trainer often works daily to help that athlete rehabilitate to full strength. Trainers educate players on proper techniques in exercise, and in their sport, to avoid injury. While trainers work with coaches and athletes daily, they typically are under the supervision of a licensed physician.

Reflection: I wouldn’t like to be an athletic trainer because I’m not into sports and I’m not athletic. Id like to have a job in something that I love to do and have a passion for and taking care of athletic isn’t something I would like to do.

" Your past is not your potential."

What i think this quote means is that what you've achieved in the past is not your full potential. Whether you've failed or achieved something you have so much more to give. With time we change, we gain knowledge about things so who we were in the past isn't really us anymore. Your potential expands and increases. When you really want something or really want to be something or someone youll give it your all. We will give so much more than what we gave in the past.

" Relentless, Repetitive Self-talk is what changes our self-image. "
Denis Waitley

What this quote by Denis says to me is that we could change our self image by telling ourselves positive things. That if you have a bad self image, by repeating positive things you like about yourself you'll start to believe that. You will believe it and have a whole different point of view about yourself. You have to encourage yourself to do best. How people view us shouldn't matter, how you view yourself is most important. Once you keep self-talking yourself you'll start believing and start being all the positive things you tell yourself .

"Our very business in life is not to get ahead of others... but to get ahead of ourselves."
Thomas S. Monson

To me this quote means that life isn't a competition in who succeeds the most. You shouldn't try to get ahead of someone and be better than them because then all you're going to be focused on is where they are at, and you'll fall behind. What this quote says to me is that we should do things only for ourselves and not for others or to impress other people. I think it's exploring what you are capable of and making yourself happy. Our business in life is to be a better person and not try to be like anyone else.

" Truth wealth is of the heart, not of the purse. "
 Og Mandino
What i think this means is that in this case its not talking of wealth in literal, it is talking about who you are. Truth wealth is the kind of person you know you are. Money or wealth does not define you. Wealth is not what is in your purse there a meaning more beyond than that. I think wealth is what people know you for. It's how you are and what you show to people. It's pride and dignity.
Allopathic Physician (M.D)

Duties and Responsibilities: An allopathic physician is a medical doctor who treats disorders and injuries by using methods aimed at counteracting the problems. Allopathic physicians rely on patented pharmaceutical drugs, radiation and surgery to treat their patients.

Education: Most MD programs require 4 years of study, including emphasis on basic science, clinical work, and social science.  The first two years of most programs are generally aimed at classroom learning of basic science as it relates to medicine.  Subsequent years of most programs then focus on clinical training.

Reflection: I wouldn’t like to be one because their salary is low and I don’t like their job. This wouldn’t be the job for me. I would like to be some kind of doctor but not an allopathic one.

" Real wealth is not so much what we have as what we are."
Sterling W. Sill

Wealth does not define us. It does not make us who we are. The house we live in and and stuff we own does not truly say who and what we are. What truly matters is who we are and what we are made of. Having wealth is just having wealth. The person who knows us best is our own self and we should know that wealth is not really the most important thing. Real wealth is knowing that you're a good person and not showing off what you have.

"You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible."
Ezra T. Benson

For me this quote says it all. When you do something wrong that you're not supposed to do and you know its wrong you will end up feeling guilty. You wont feel right because you know what you've done and that you made the wrong choice. So doing something wrong won't make you feel right. Not good or proud of yourself. In the other hand, doing something right will make you feel right and glad because you made the right choice. Doing something wrong and you feeling right, it just doesn't make sense. It's actually pretty impossible to do something wrong and feel right. Sooner or later it will come back to you and make you feel guilty and wrong.
Acupressure

Duties and Responsibilities: Ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points which stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. Acupressure relaxes the tight muscles that result from emotional stress and trauma, which cause the body to contract it’s muscles and harden.
Salary:  $35,970
Education: In states that require licensure for massage therapists, aspiring acupressure technicians must undergo formal training. Programs that offer acupressure training may integrate other methods of Chinese healing into their curricula.
Prospective massage therapists usually must complete a training program and an examination.

Reflection: I wouldn’t like to become one because I don’t see myself massaging people for a living. Their salary is decent but I don’t think acupressure is for me.

First Week Of School

My first week of school as a sophomore at Hpiam was great. I woke up early and i was excited to start the day. I was pleased with the classes I got. I got psych class which i'm very excited to be in. I cant wait to see what we'll learn. I'm very interested in that subject. I mostly got new teachers and they have different ways of teaching from my past teachers but i'll get used to them. I did get to meet some new people the first day of school and it's good. Since theres many new people im happy because it's not the same people as last year. I start my day with spanish for first period, then english, history and end it with p.e. Those are my odd days. My even days consist of attending this new media class which by the way i'm happy to be taking. Then I continue with geometry, psychology, and lastly biology. I gotta say I like even days better than odd days for some reason. Perhaps it's because I enjoy taking the subjects I take on even days better than the ones on odd days. Last year I had trouble with passing my classes and doing my work, but I dont want that to happen again. This year i will try my hardest to pass my classes and make it to the 11th grade.
“Education is the latchkey to success in life.”
Gordon B. Hinckley
This quote by Gordon B. Hinckley has a lot of meaning. For me it means that education will get you very far and bring you success, and well it’s true. Education is everything and without education you won’t get very far. You’d have to be a genius. Many successful people who once were alive didn’t have no education but times are different. Now you can’t even get a job without a high school diploma. Education is free and some students take that for granted but I guess they don’t understand how important it is to work hard and graduate until they reach what they want to be.
