Final: Part 1

1. Some things that I liked about this class was that we got to write down some of our life goals, and read them every day to remind ourselves of where we want to go and want to do. I really liked that because it keeps you focused.
2. Some things I did not like about  the class was that it was just the same routine.
3. To improve the class I would recommend maybe doing something different like the lessons or something and change it up a bit.
4. I did try my best in this class in doing all my posts and answering them correctly and thoroughly. I tried to bring my life planning notebook every day. I did try my best although sometimes I slacked off.
5. I am reading my Life Planning 100+ Goals daily for two minutes almost every day because it was my job to do it and I was doing it to remind myself to what I’m striving for.
6. I am committed to be a CTR person because I do not want to be a CTW person. I want to make the right decisions as I mature and grow up because I don’t want to choose the wrong and suffer the consequences of my decisions, so I am committed in being a CTR person and choosing what’s right for myself.
7. I will always remember the things we had to write about and videos and stories you shared with us, they are memorable and the acts of kindness were amazing so that’s what I’ll remember.

Be a CTR Person-to Always Choose The Right!!

The Ultimate Choice

Of all the choices you will ever make, one choice supersedes all others-the ultimate choice. This one choice will help you to always make correct decisions. This one choice, The Ultimate choice, is your keystone to being the best student and person you can possibly be. This one choice will forever affect you for good more than any other choice. The ULTIMATE CHOICE is: To be a CTR Person-to Always Choose the Right!

Out of all the choices we will ever make, good, bad, or any type of choice, one beats all of them and will prevent us from doing bad and being a good person would be to always do what’s right and keeping that in mind. If w keep in our mind being a CTR person then we will come out a better person with more understanding of things. So that is our ultimate choice and a choice and answer that should come to our mind when conflicted- doing what’s right.

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”
Thomas Carlyle

I think what Thomas is trying to say with this quote is that people have to have goals in life, it is strange if they do not. Just like the ship needs the rudder, then individuals need goals in their life to achieve. And their own goals depend on them to be completed, well if people want to complete them. I think he compared it because the ship and a rudder they need to be together to work and a man should always keep the goals in our minds for them to become reality. Also I think everyone should have goals because whatever you want to achieve in life will come true if you make it a priority. I think that if you keep your goals in mind you could do and become whatever you want. It is all up to you and you make the choices you want to do.

Beautiful Character

If there is beauty in character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.
Conclusion:
If there is beauty in character,
there will be peace in the world.

Chinese Proverb

I think what this is trying to say is that the world needs good people so there could be peace in the world. There needs to be people with beautiful characters, and with good intentions so they could change the world we live in. I think that is so because they know whats right, and what the world should have.
The Six Pillars Of Character

The Six Pillars are…

1.Trustworthiness
2.Respect
3.Responsibility
4.Fairness
5.Caring
6.Citizenship

Trustworthiness is being honest, being reliable, having the courage to do the right thing, and being loyal. An example of trustworthiness is seeing something in a crime and not saying the truth about what you saw.
Respect is treating other with respect, being tolerant and accepting of differences, good manner, considerate of others feelings. An example of respect is not judging someone maybe of their physical appearance just because something is not usual.
Responsibility is doing what you’re supposed to do, be self-disciplined, always do your best, and thinking before you act. An example of responsibility the teacher having told you to do something and you do it right on time.
Fairness is playing by the rules, taking turns and sharing. An example is little kids playing together and they’re taking turns.
Caring is being kind and compassionate, expressing gratitude.
An example is showing love to your family.
Citizenship is obeying laws and rules. An example is obeying authority.

Reflection: I think the six pillars is something everyone should have, they're great. It'll teach you how to be a better person. I will try to live up by these pillars everyday.

“The most important thing you will ever have is good values. “
Dennis Prager

I think what Dennis means by this is that your behavior, morals, and manners will get you far in life and that it is the most important thing you can have because it represents who you are. I think that people should go over their good values and check them so they can realize what they are doing wrong. It would be important to change your good values or try to change if you have negative ones because negative ones won’t get you far at all. So I think Dennis said this to make people realize that it is true. That being able to forgive, be honest, and loyal is the most important thing and that it will get you far.

“Dare to stand alone.”
Thomas S. Monson

I really like this quote from Thomas because it says a lot. I think most people would be afraid to actually stand up for their opinions and what they think is right. A lot of people just follow where there is more people because they don’t like to be alone. But he is saying and giving the message that it doesn't matter if you’re the only one with the opinion, if you believe in it and you think is right then you shouldn't care what anyone else thinks. So everyone should take that challenge and next time they think something is wrong they should stand up on their own and for their own opinion and not just follow the crowd so they wont feel lonely
Venice Beach

Venice Beach is a beach in Venice, California but it isn’t like any ordinary beach. I really love this beach because it is different. The beach isn’t dirty or anything and the surroundings are really beautiful. Almost every time you go it is always full of people. You can find almost anything in the boardwalk. Small shops, food restaurants, a freak show, and also a psychic reading shop. There’s all kinds of entertainments in the boardwalk like instrumental musicians, singers, dancers, acrobats, magicians, etc. That is why I love Venice Beach because every time you go you won’t regret going. You never know what you’re going to see. I highly recommend everyone to go to Venice because it is nice. If you’re up for an adventure that is were you should go. I feel like Venice beach is a place of no judgment, I feel like Venice accepts all kinds of people because everywhere you look everyone is different. That’s also another reason I like going. You could feel the positive vibes that penetrate through the air. There is no negativity. Soon I will go back to this wonderful beach.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.”
Theodore Roosevelt

I think what this quote means is that often when we are presented with a choice where you have to pick an option, we think and think and think about it so much when it honestly isn’t even necessary. There has to be an obvious right choice in what you should do. So that decision would be the best one you can do. I think by him saying this quote he wants people to understand that there is always a right choice and you should always go for that one. The second option isn’t even a choice. The right choice outweighs the bad. So I agree with him; choosing the right thing to do is the best thing we can all do when we are faced with a conflict.
Progress Post

I've only reached a few of my goals. The big ones i'm trying to achieve them in the long run. Also a goal that i want to really achieve is to pass all my classes this semester. It's become a little hard, and im kind of behind in some school work but im willing to make it up and get back on track. I am aware that there is only about 5 weeks left of school so i have to get my stuff together. Some goals I've achieved are kind of stupid like going to my favorite bands concert. Another goal I've achieved that i am actually happy about is being a more positive person. I used to be so negative and pessimistic but now i am more positive and open-minded. So i am glad that i am able to work on myself. I know that i will keep on reaching more goals in the future so i can't wait till I've achieved most of them.

Visualization-Imagination
“What you see is what you get”
I think what this quote means is that everything; your future, where you want to be at, etc. all depends on how you view yourself. Whether you view yourself positively, or negatively. Whatever you view yourself as if what you are going to get in the future. You should know where you want to be at later in life, whether you want to be successful or not. Just like the basketball player and the orthodontist they saw themselves being that. Whenever they looked In the mirror they knew what they wanted to be. So I think we should think positively about ourselves and what we want to become In life and just focus in reaching our goal.

“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.”
Henry David Thoreau

I think what Henry is trying to say is that many other investments may fail but the only one that doesn’t is goodness, I guess everything you do with good intentions and with goodness never fails. Everything you put hard work into, and dedication will come out positive and not negative. I think maybe he’d try to encourage people to do things with good intentions. Out of all investments that you make, goodness is the only one who won’t let you down.
World Records

5. I am fascinated with this world record because it is absolutely terrifying and fascinating because how could someone attempt that, it is amazing.
6. I think I would like to break a world record but theres really nothing special that I can do and capable of doing, so it probably wouldn’t happen.

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.”

Theodore Hesburgh
I think what Theodore is trying to say from this is that your decisions aren’t based on influence, they are based on what you think and feel is right. He is saying you aren’t going to make a decision just because it is popular, or cheap or easy; you are going to make decisions because they benefit you. If a decision you think is wrong he’s saying you shouldn’t make it because only you know what is right.

“It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound (not good).”

Joseph Smith
I think what Joseph was trying to say by saying this is that every human being can tell right from wrong, and that what everyone should be doing is giving attention to what is sound and good. To what is positive and impacts us in a positive way. The negative and wrong things should have no attention and no popularity. I think he is trying to encourage us by doing what’s right so everyone can know the positive things that are going on.

“True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what’s right.”

Brigham Young

I think this quote means, that you don’t necessarily need to ask for freedom or independence, you get through doing the right things. You have the right, independence and freedom to do what’s right and make the right choices. I think people confuse what freedom is because they think freedom is doing whatever they want and being rebels but being free is much more than that. Being free is being able to make right choices and helping whoever is in need or the community or something.

St. Patrick’s Day

1.  St. Patrick was a patron saint of Ireland and is one of Christianity’s most widely known figures. He was kidnapped, and spent six years as a slave where during those years he found God, and planned on making Irish people Christian.

2. The purpose of St Patrick’s Day is to celebrate the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland.

3. St. Patrick’s Day is designated specifically on March 17 because that is the day that he died.

4. On St. Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and or green clothing. St Patrick used a shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. The color green has been associated with Ireland since 1640’s. The color was just adopted.

Thursday, March 12, 2015

There was this football team from a middle school in Michigan where the football players were all popular and cool. And there was a kid named kid, he was sick. So on their game day they decided that they were going to do something special for him. Right when one of the players was about to make a touchdown he stopped right before the line. When they returned back to the game and started where they were, kieth got the ball and made the touchdown.

“They’re only truly great who are truly good.”

George Chapman

I agree with George Chapman’s statement because some people may ask who in reality is truly great, and some people may think just because they cheated their way to win a game that makes them great. Those types of people aren’t great although they think they are. I think what George was trying to say is that, only if you’re good and you do the right thing, that makes you truly great. You’re supposed to do the right thing to consider yourself great. Someone who cheats isn’t great, they’re just the opposite

"Character matters most."

Dale Murphy

To dale winning and getting millions and being famous didn't matter at all. What mattered to him was his own character. I think his character mattered to him because he knows who he is and what he is capable of doing. He knew he was great and was really good at baseball that is something he already knew of. But i think he wanted to show people his character, and how good of a person he is. Character matters, reputation doesn't because that is only what people think of you. I think he is a great example that you should always try your best in everything you do , and his advice is great because character does matter.

"Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a great heart exceeds all."
Benjamin Franklin

I think what Benjamin Franklin in other words is trying to say is that what money buys doesn't have great importance as oppose to an individuals good heart and soul. Some people may think that it's so important to be wealthy and when one is they'll show it off and think they've won at life, but i think it doesn't matter. As long as you make the right decisions in your life and know what's right for you. Also people may make some bad choices in order to rise to the top and be the best, but that isn't necessary. When you do good things, good things will come to you. You won't have to be chasing it.

The video of the little boy Miles and the soldier showed honor and integrity in an amazing way. A soldier went to go eat breakfast at a restaurant. Miles and his family showed up and outside of the restaurant Miles found a $20 dollar bill. His first thoughts were that he was going to buy a video game, but as soon as he stepped into the restaurant he knew what he was going to do with it. He wrote a note, to the soldier he saw inside saying that he reminded him of his father, and that today was his lucky day, and thanked him for his service.  The soldier was honored by the child that he gave him the money, and the soldier has always kept the note and reads it everyday.
"Act well your part, there all honor lies."

Alexander Pope

I think what Alexander means by this quote is that, honor doesn't really lie in one specific place. He is saying that if an individual does good and make the right choices, that demonstrates honor and integrity. Choosing what's right makes you a good person with honor.

“ In life as in football, you won’t go far unless you know where the goalposts are.”
Arnold H. Glasgow

Just like in football, if you got goalposts you know where you’re going to shoot and what you’re aiming for. That’s why the goalposts are there, to score. Just like in football as in life you need to know what your goals are and what you’re trying to aim for. So everyone should have goalposts in their life.

History Of Basketball

1. James Naismith invented basketball.
2. Springfield, Massachusetts.
3.

“It’s not about how to achieve your dreams. It’s about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.”
Dr. Randy Pausch

What I think Dr. Randy is trying to say and what he means is that we’re to busy trying to figure out the actions and what to do to achieve our dreams. We’re to busy planning our next move to get us there. I think what he is trying to say is that instead of planning on how to achieve our dreams we should just lead our life the right way. In other words just be the greatest person you can be and do positive things in your life. I believe if you do positive things and lead your life the right way, just like Randy said, positive karma will get us back. In return we’ll get a great destiny, fortune, and good luck and all of our dreams will come to us. So instead of wondering how to achieve our goals and dreams we should be planning to lead our life the right way.

“Every time I’ve done something that doesn’t feel right, it has ended up not being right.”
Mario Cuomo

I think what Mario Cuomo means is that if you’re doing something that doesn’t feel right, you shouldn’t do it. It always ends up being wrong. If you get that gut feeling that what you’re doing is wrong, then it most likely is wrong. You could stop yourself from committing a mistake and having bad consequences.

"Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education"
M. L. King Jr.

I agree with what Marther Luther King Jr. Said because you have to be intelligent to be well educated and character. Your character shows everything about yourself and the way you are and handle things so i believe you need those two things to reach the goal of education and be well educated. I think what he is also trying to say is that being intelligent and having character will get you very far in life and also education.
