St. Patrick’s Day

1.  St. Patrick was a patron saint of Ireland and is one of Christianity’s most widely known figures. He was kidnapped, and spent six years as a slave where during those years he found God, and planned on making Irish people Christian.

2. The purpose of St Patrick’s Day is to celebrate the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland.

3. St. Patrick’s Day is designated specifically on March 17 because that is the day that he died.

4. On St. Patrick’s Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and or green clothing. St Patrick used a shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. The color green has been associated with Ireland since 1640’s. The color was just adopted.
